Day 1, 9. July
LONG JOURNEY TO TRAENA
Our trip to the famous Traena festival begins on wednesday at 6 o‘clock in the morning.
Quick breakfast at the airport -which consists of a double coffee and a very yummy norwegian salmon-baguette- and hopp onto the airplane. After a deserved snooze we get very impressed by the landscapes as we approach Bodo. Both of us beeing born and grown in Switzerland with its amazingly high alps, we wonder how those ( in comparison low) mountain peaks can hold so much snow. But then we quickly realize that we actually moving towards the most northern part of our planet, where there exist different rules, extremer conditions and where also great myths got born.
Landed in Bodo, a pretty harbour-town, we get excited to continue our journey to traena. As we finally arrive the boat-ticket hall, we get the incredible statement: „ sorry ladies, but the boat is full“. Prebook the boat? we kind of missed that information. After argueing and persisting for quite a while, we finally managed to get the very last 2 tickets- and a long journey with buses and ferries- to our big aim of the day: Traena.
What we found there compensated our all in all 15 hours daytrip by far: the red setting sun dips the sea, turning the surrounding island and mountains into a spectacular, mellow, pastel-coloured scenery. It is already 11 pm, but looking up into the sky it feels like late afternoon. A sunset paired with a blue sky -we have both never seen such an amazing light-scene before.
We then find a spot, very nearby the sea and face the first challenge: how to fix the hooks into this supersoft, mossy ground. But luckily this turns into a very conveniant factor: Cati brings her brandnew mattress, but no pump to turn it into a comfy sleepground. So we can conclude: the traena-ground can substitute any mattrasses, therefore you can save valuable space in your backpacks.
The people surrounding us all have this very special smile on their face, it seems everyone is immediately at ease, as simlpy beeing overwhelmed by this amazingly, peaceful place.
