Many consider Kystriksveien the most beautiful coastal route in the world. Here you will find countless islands to explore and popular landmarks such as Torghatten and the Seven Sisters mountain chain (De Syv Søstre). Magnificent nature experiences like Svartisen the World Heritage Vega Islands. A journey along this stretch of coast will give you memories to be cherished for life. Here you will enjoy nature up close and you can visit small, idyllic coastal communities. Peace and quiet best characterize a trip along the Coastal Route – Kystriksveien.
Travelling by bus, express boat and auto-ferry allows you access to places you would seldom get to by car. The well-established express boat network along Kystriksveien connects the islands to the mainland. Active visitors will find exciting and unique hikes of varying degrees of difficulty. Bike rentals are available at numerous locations and allow you to get around on your own while visiting various attractions.
Through our involvement on the project “Backpacker Kystriksveien”, we are working to make it easier for you to travel in this manner, e.g. by providing various route suggestions.
The project is being executed by the Kystriksveien Association in cooperation with Nordland county and Nord-Trøndelag county.

6-day trip: Bodø – Trondheim
This 6-day trip takes you along the Coastal Route and allows you to experience many landmarks such as Svartisen glacier, Træna, the Petter Dass museum, Brønnøysund (Torghatten) and Namsos. The trip is made by bus and express boat.
Experience Træna and Lovund
Take a trip to the outermost part of the Helgeland Coast – to the “Puffin Island” of Lovund and spectacular Træna. A 4-day trip with 3 overnight stays – your starting point is Sandnessjøen.
